KYM Teacher Training Programme

This is a course for beginners, yoga enthusiasts, yoga practitioners and teachers who wish to know and understand correctly how to learn, practice and teach yoga the right way and to train aspiring Yoga teachers in the Classical, Traditional and Authentic Yoga in Bangalore.

Anyone who is interested in learning correctly, how to practice for themselves or to teach yoga and make a great career of this, the right way and to understand correctly Classical, Traditional and Authentic Yoga from the best teachers in the country and from one of the Leading Yoga Institutions in India – i.e. KYM , can join this course.
This course is also for beginners on yoga so they learn and understand yoga correctly and properly for their own self practice. Also not all people who attend this course become teachers. Many people do this course to better understand yoga for themselves. Surely this course is for Yoga teachers but also for yoga practitioners also.

4 batches of the KYM teacher training course have been completed successfully. Batch 5 (2023-24) is going on and Batch 6 (2024-25) is starting from June, 2024.

  • The renowned KYM Yoga Teacher Training Program (YTTP) is only conducted at the main Chennai headquarters. But for Bangalore residents it is conducted exclusively only at Sri Krishna Wellness Yoga Centre, Malleshwaram, Bangalore.
  • All the senior yoga teachers and mentors from KYM Chennai are faculty for this program in Bangalore. They come every weekend from Chennai to teach this course.
  • The course is planned only over weekends so it is convenient for working professionals also to add on this Diploma in Yoga for their career growth.

  • Late Shri T. Krishnamacharya is often called the Father of Modern Yoga and synonymous with contemporary yoga
  • He is considered one of the most important masters who revived the practice of yoga in the early 20th century
  • Late Shri T. Krishnamacharya was the Yoga teacher to several Indian Maharajas and their families including the Maharaja of Mysore, Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV , The Maharaja of Jaipur and several others.
  • Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram was established in 1976, - 45 years ago , by T Krishnamacharya’s son and long-time student TKV Desikachar o carry forward the invaluable teachings of his father T Krishnamacharya.
  • TKV Desikachar was a great yoga therapist and diagnostic and these skills were legendary

Sri Krishna Wellness, Yoga & Cultural Centre was founded in January 2014, 7 years ago , by Ms. Mimi Partha Sarathy to promote the rich heritage of Indian Art, Culture, and Yoga.

The core objective of the successful exclusive association between Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM)-Chennai and Sri Krishna Wellness, Yoga and Cultural Centre now for over 7 years, is to train aspiring Yoga teachers in Classical, Traditional and Authentic Yoga in Bangalore.

The duration of the course will be for 15 months and approximately 900 hours plus. plus of immersive study, with 470+ direct contact hours and over 440 hours of indirect and application-based learning, with a syllabus approved by the KYM Academic Council and the Board of Studies, KYM, in accordance with the teachings of Sri T Krishnamacharya and Sri TKV Desikachar.

The course consists of 3 semesters

The teaching form for this course will be in person . Classes will be held at Sri Krishna Wellness, Yoga and Cultural Centre, Malleshwaram, Bangalore. Only certain exceptions will be made in case teachers are not available.

  • To ensure that the Yoga Teachers are properly guided
  • To become thoroughly proficient in practicing or teaching yoga appropriately since not all people who attend this course become teachers. Many people do this course to better understand yoga for themselves.

There will be a 3 days Internship in Chennai during the fifteen month of the course. This will be an internship where the students get to practice teaching along with the senior teachers of KYM – Chennai. Please note that attendance for this internship is mandatory for certification.

  • Broad process - The applicant for all levels of certification has to apply for assessment as follows in two stages: -
  • Stage 1: Enrolment with Yoga Certification Board (YCB) and –

  • Students of YCB accredited Leading Yoga Institutions i.e KYM – Chennai shall submit application form on the YCB website but can do the same through their respective Institutions i.e KYM Chennai.

  • Level 3 (Yoga Teacher & Evaluator) - III Yoga Teacher & Evaluator Master Trainers in Yoga educational Institutions, Yoga training Courses and training programs is one of the highest levels in yoga education, accredited and recognized by the ministry of Ayush.
  • He or she can also act as Evaluator and assessor of Yoga professionals and can teach in studios, institutions, colleges/ universities / institutions of higher learning. Equivalent to 800 hours of Yoga course 46 credits
