Anyone and everyone can do Yoga. There is no pre requisite of flexibility for a person to practice Yoga asana. The only requirement to do Yoga is the willingness, faith and enthusiasm for the path of Yoga. Yoga asana is all about a breath – based series of movements with complete mindfulness. Consistent Asana practice over a period of time will open up the blockages in our body, reduce the impact of bad posture practice, and transform your body and pave the way for a more flexible person at the body, breath and mind level.
Yoga asana practice is all about first assessing, accepting and starting from one’s present reality in terms of flexibility and strength at the physical level, the length and smoothness of our breath and the state of our mind. It involves working at bettering ourselves in terms of our flexibility, strength, breath patterns and the stability and calmness of the mind.
Asana practice will pave the way for a more flexible person both at a physical and mental level. A regular sustained asana practice will prepare, condition and open the various body parts making us more flexible at the physical level. And it will also enable us to observe and accept that everything is not in our control. We need to put in the effort in the right direction and then accept whatever comes our way. This opens our mind and we become much more accepting of whatever life deals and helps us handle challenges in a much better and resilient way.
Yoga asana practice does not require any precondition of flexibility but rather enhances our flexibility and body and mind levels.
